I eagerly await this movie to come out on DVD or some other form of media since Lifetime is starting to issue some movies to customers. Although I don't have high hopes for this one because this took place almost 9 years ago, which is still hard to believe, since this movie is STILL ingrained into my head after all this time.

The Mayor is an ass, and his chauffeur is a bully. The Cutter's are cursed and poor Barry is all over the place trying to solve a triple homicide. Connecting the dots was difficult to say the least, which is why this novel was so brilliant.
I like Linwood Barclay's description of the settings that allow me to imagine being part of the plot. - The lawyer could have been in the girls notebook. Yes, but this is not chewy, gory- not even in the first terrible crime at the Langley's. Which doesn't make those murders cheery reading- but there is not the tons of gratuitous violence or foul language so often found in this book. Not erudite, not savvy/clever, but extremely entertaining to the "why".

No one heard or saw what happened to the Langley's, but everyone is assuming it had something to do with Albert's job as the town's criminal attorney. As the book progresses, we learn that everyone in this town seems to have a secret, but the largest secrets seem to lie within the Cutter's own family. Throw in a corrupt mayor and a pompous college president and you have a recipe for a suspenseful read to keep you up all night. Seventeen-year-old Derek Cutter’s best friend Adam Langley was going away for a week with his parents, Albert and Donna; their house would be vacant for that period.
Every character had a secret and most of them had multiple secrets that they all kept from their supposed loved ones! I was really disappointed as my colleagues had raved about how much they loved Linwood Barclay. I didn't connect with the characters at all, or feel any of the tension for their situation. If I'm honest I just wanted to get to the end to see if I had guessed everything right!

The show revolves around her balancing her career and family life, as a prosecutor in the city of Indianapolis. A pack of anoles has been spotted near Bentbranch Meadows, far from their usual hunting grounds on Naked Rock. The local chocobokeeps are worried that it is only a matter of time before the hungry scalekin stray too close to the stables and endanger their birds. To prevent the worst, the Wood Wailers are seeking volunteers to find and cull the creatures.
I hated Jim’s wife Ellen, she just seemed super shady and you could tell that she was hiding something. I liked how the first chapter was from his point of view so you got to know more about him and his actions. I also didn’t like how the Cutter’s could of solved a lot of their problems by just talking to each other. Instead, stuff happens and then they would reveal their secrets. Okay I figure by now you get that I liked the book and can recommend it. I’m a big fan of Barclay’s novels and Too Close to Home doesn’t disappoint.
He hears Mrs. Langley's footsteps on the stairs towards the second story bedrooms saying something about becoming sick and ruining the vacation. Soon after that Derek hears a knock on the front door above his head, Mr. Langley's voice then - gunfire explodes. Terrified, Derek sits frozen, heart hammering, unable to breathe, behind the downstairs sofa then, more gun shots, he hears a scream from Adam's mom as she falls down the stairs. His best friend, Adam, gets shot right in front of his eyes as Derek frantically scrambles out the back door, out into the darkness. Annabeth Chase is a criminal prosecutor with a near perfect conviction record.
Amazingly enough, the multiple story lines, numerous characters, along with the dizzying array of leads that are all rolled together the book is not confusing or difficult to follow. TOO CLOSE TO HOME qualifies as one of the very best suspense thrillers that I’ve ever had the pleasure to read. I'd give this one 4.5 stars and would be lying if I called it anything less than excellent. Let us know what’s wrong with this preview of Too Close to Home by Linwood Barclay.

When the scandal erupts, she returns to her old life. As soon as she arrives, she is met with several unresolved issues from family members and past lovers. A senior administration official said Thursday they believe the Russians are holding Whelan’s release to a higher bar than Griner’s because of the espionage charges.
But then again- she's not the only woman with a history of omission to the issues of her workplace or other everyday "troubles" outside of the house and her roles there. And most of all that might seem so separated from usual family discourse. Then there are those units in which the members never keep their mouths shut about anything that has "gone on" that day. I felt that he was suppose to be this super great guy, but I couldn’t connect with him.
There were also times when it felt so over described that it was as if Barclay had a word count target that he tied himself to! The book could have easily been edited down without losing any of the relevant plot details. I gave it two stars as while I didn't think it was great, I didn't hate it. For an easy crime read, with red herrings and skeletons in the closet it's okay and does what it says on the tin. I just feel there are better books out there.
Jim and Ellen Cutter found out about the murders of their neighbour the next morning. However, when Derek finally admitted to Jim that he witness the death of the Langleys, Jim started to investigate. The readers of Too Close To Home will continue to follow Jim Cutter investigation to find out what happens. This is one of the best murder mysteries I've read this year. Someone killed the Langley's and no one heard a thing, except for Derek Cutter, who was hiding in a crawlspace in the Langley's home. This murder has plagiarism written all over it, and no one is innocent when detective Barry Duckworth investigates.
But it’s hard to read too much into the early voting numbers. The restricted one-week voting period makes it impossible to directly compare the results with those of prior years. And there’s not any hard, factual basis to assert that Mr. Walker can’t overcome his deficit on Election Day. It was at Trent that he met Neetha, the woman who would become his wife. They have two grown children, Spencer and Paige.
